Junior-Feature Article

For my feature article, I had a hard time trying to decide what I wanted to write about.  I chose the issue of nontraditional students and online learning as it was an issue that peaked my interested in a previous course at URI.  This issue peaked my interest because it relates to me personally.  As a nontraditional student, I am surprised by how few of my classmates are nontraditional students especially in my online classes.

As I stated in my article, there are several obstacles nontraditional students face when attempting to continue their education.  If I would have had the option to continue to work towards my degree, online, at my first attempt at URI, it would have made a significant difference in my life.  I feel that it is extremely important for nontraditional students to be made aware of the opportunities available to them.

In revising this assignment, I first corrected any grammatical and documentation errors. I then focused on recreating an attention grabbing intro, by using my own personal experience I hope to help the reader look at the issue from a different point of view. I also relocated and text-wrapped my image to make the article more visually pleasing.

Through the process of this assignment, especially the interviews, it helped me to realize that by simply making general inquiries to the experts within the field, rather than making assumptions about an issue, helps to clarify your goals and work towards better plan for action.
